The Savoy

Stay at Savoy last week for 4days Excellent customer service by the staff, very helpful. Rooms very clean Thank you to the staff at Savoy, they made our stay there very enjoyable and pleasant.

Stayed at the atrium room where they don’t have outside-looking-window but the room was large and comfortable enough for 2 adults. Surrounded by a really beautiful neighborhood although it’s 30mins away from Sydney downtown if using bus or 20 mins if using ferry (from Double Bay wharf). Room service operated daily and they cleaned perfectly enough. Overall, I had a pleasant stay there.

Stayed at double bay savoy on 27th November 2022. We booked a family room. The room was big and comfortable. Really worth it for the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially the female staff who worked on the day was very supportive. Only thing I dislike is there was no seperate shower room in the bathroom. Shower was located on top of the bath tub which was bit annoying. Apart from that it was a great stay.

I've passed on my concerns re: bathroom hygiene to staff which I really felt was completely unacceptable. * Black mould on grout * Shaving hairs on shower tiles * Soap and soap scum on shower tiles * Dirty shower curtain * Refills not filled up. They did not even manage to say that they have noted it, as the girl did not speak fluent English but her body language and response was along those lines. No compensation offered. They do not serve breakfast anymore. At least the reception is manned 24/7. Happy to amend my rating in the future if they have cleaned up their act ( literally). But how can I risk making a booking again? Despite being given a very large and clean room, slightly later checkout time, and everything else being great, some things are so bad it drags the entire rating down. I've never stayed at a place where the bathroom wasn't cleaned. Edit: I've now stayed at a place much much worse than this and increased the star rating accordingly.

Don't let the Savoy name make you think it is a flash hotel. Our room (111) was dated, although the bed was comfortable. Bathroom satisfactory although does require a deep clean. Room 111 is on the first floor and next to the road, but the street is quiet throughout the night, so a good sleep was achieved. Some mornings you may be woken by rubbish trucks in the early morning. The reception staff are very casual and don't want to get of their arses to give directions or any other reason. Not the best location for public transport.

The service was friendly and nice however the room was filled with dust. Curtains are in desperate need of a wash. Just opening the curtains to close the windows set off my dust allergies immediately. The windowsills were also covered in dust. Bed was okay comfy, linen was clean and bed was made nicely. Bathroom was a bit questionable as the shower had mould in the seals ( I know this doesn't come off from mould killer but you should at least be replacing the seals when they get that bad) water for the showers would also randomly go completely scolding hot. Not huge disappointment but definitely could have been a lot better

Staff was very kind and took a prompt action to our request. Thanks for the great hospitality.

Our favourite place to stay in Sydney. Great service, they know us by name and are always accommodating. It’s an amazing price for such a great neighbourhood, so close to everything. We often stay for business and come with a truck. Street Parking is good around there (paid, but long stays). Rooms are basic, but all we need! We love it 👍

This was a sub par hotel, more like a 2 star hotel. Room was quite damp and there was mold in the bathroom and on parts of the walls in the room. Walls were paper thin so we could here the guest next door who was banging her door every hour throughout the night, moaning and talking sounds. There was also a lot of building noises that were also constant throughout the night. Bedsheets and carpet were stained. We suggest staying away from this hotel. Did not feel safe in it.

This is truly a low quality hotel, but there were also good things about it. The location is wonderful. The front desk staff are very nice and helpful and polite. My bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. BUT…the rooms are dated and don’t feel nice. For example, the fan in the bathroom in our room made a horrible sound whenever we turned the light on. The rooms smell stale. There are storage containers and towels and bedding in the hallways. There were refilled soap and lotion containers in the bathroom, but instead of being over the sink, they were at the side of it, so soap an lotion kept spilling on the floor. We did request housekeeping and the housekeeping service was good. It felt like we were staying in a “dive” type hotel - the type of hotel a person gets stuck in when he or she is down on his luck. The hotel just feels run down. I hope the management may consider making improvements since this hotel could be nice again.
